Open to all

A creative flowing yoga with emphasis on connecting breath to movement. This is an energising but well-balanced practice that includes lengthening, strengthening, balancing and relaxation.

The class moves deliberately towards a moderate pace to warm the body and work the breath.  Then we do a series of slow, calming stretches.  Alignment cues with both classic and modified poses are given and you’re encouraged to make the practice as gentle or challenging as you like.  We end with a luxurious body scan and relaxation.

Meet the teacher

Shirley Brooks

Shirley has taught yoga for more than 25 years in three different countries. She considers yoga a moving meditation and infuses her classes with a balance of humour, discipline and compassion.

The atmosphere is lighthearted and easy-going, but at the same time her instruction is detailed and precise to inspire students to discover their own inner teacher: the heart-mind.

We are a 5–10 minute walk from three stations: Highbury & Islington, Holloway Road, and Drayton Park. Bus routes 21, 43, 263, and 393 stop nearby. We are also on the C38 Cycleway, with plenty of bike racks close by on Fieldway Crescent. There is no on-site parking, and nearby streets are mostly resident-only.

Is the building accessible?

While we have an internal lift to the shrine rooms and yoga studio, please be aware there are four steep steps at our main street-level entrance without a ramp or lift. On the ground floor, you’ll find an accessible toilet. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss your specific access needs.
